The Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF) has commissioned infrastructural projects worth N382.6 million with promise to handover Cottage hospitals at Polobubor and Oporoza to the Delta State Government in no distance time.
Speaking during the commissioning of the projects, Comrade Jude Ebitimi Ukori, Executive Chairman of EGCDF stated that the projects were meant to alleviate the sufferings of their people in terms of basic infrastructural needs affecting transportation, access roads, health, shelter, water hygiene and sanitation, improvement in tourism potentials, enhance the welfare of the people as well as create a conducive environment for educational activities in the riverine communities.
He stated that in a bid to improve the source of livelihood and economic empowerment opportunities for their teeming youths and women, they included in the programme, graduation of 19 Agripreneur Trainees who will start their own businesses through kick-off grant from the EGCDF, while 110 persons have been selected to undergo vocational skill training in line with the Delta State Youth Empowerment Scheme slated for February 2019.
General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Chevron Nigeria Limited in his remarks said the infrastructural projects includes: 500-meter Access Walkway and another 150-meter Access Walkway at Opuama, 10-Room Guest Houses at Ogbinbiri and Akekeromo Zion, Concrete Landing Jetty at Oporoza Community, Rigid Pavement & Drains Extension at Benikrukru, Six-Room Public Toilet Project at Kunukunuma, 30-Rooms Hostel Block at Okerenkoko and EGCDF Secretariat Annex in Effurun.
He lauded the leadership of the EGCDF for its unyielding resolve in fulfilling the objectives of the Global Memorandum of Understanding which was initiated in 2005, and they are happy that with their (Chevron Nigeria Limited) support of over N5.56 billion, the EGCDF keep adding significant value to the lives of the people in its constituent communities.
